For those of you who are fans of Akismet, the anti-spam plugin that's bundled with WordPress, as well as those of you who are fond of the other anti-spam plugins, there's a new player in the game.

Project HoneyPot just announced a new server-side Apache module that incorporates a blacklist (or blocklist if you prefer) using data they've been collecting for more than two years (I can't give you an exact time frame because it was about two years ago that I became a member) on email harvesters and other malicious robots, hosts, and IP addresses.

This is fresh news. They are being "dugg" to the front page of Digg as I type this. Read the information at Project HoneyPot for yourself. This is going to change the way we deal with comment spam from here on out. I can't wait until the plugin developers get a hold of the API and generate new plugins for us. I give it a week, tops!

Note: Digg them on their page (click the pic) and Stumble my page. Thanks!
