I'm always on the lookout for new and exciting ways to boost my readership and to boost the rankings of my readers in the process. This is the theory behind my recent "blog drive-bys", which I haven't had the time to do lately. For those of you who are not in the know, I drive past your blogs with nothing more than a photonic car. No one will get hurt in the process.
Part of the reason I haven't had time is because of my blog move from one host to another. Another time-eating ordeal was offloading my bandwidth requirements as much as possible. Doing a best guest estimate, I can almost make it a month with the current bandwidth cap. I ordered an additional 10 GB per month to go with my year of service at about $22 for the year. As soon as they have it set up, I'll have to head to the bank to send the payment. I have enough bandwidth to sustain the blog for another 15-20 days without it.
Now that I have a huge number of new Technorati favorites, as well as my own links in one of my sidebars, I can continue with what I was doing. I am, however, going to start from square one again. I will be going through my links and then through my favorites, looking for noteworthy articles from the front page. I will try to do between 10 and 20 blogs per day unless I get distracted by other things (again). In case you're not a frequent reader, I almost always comment on what I'm linking to. If I have anything pertinent to say, and if comments aren't turned off, I will usually leave a comment on your blog as well (even if it is just a passing hello). I also turn my ad blocker off just in case there might be something I'm interested in.
Do you want to guarantee that I'll hit your blog every once in awhile? Put a link to my blog on your blog in a place where I can see it without digging for an hour. Then tell me about it so that I can reciprocate. Once your link is on my site, I guarantee I'll be visiting your blog on a semi-regular basis (as time permits). Once I get back into the groove of things, I'll try to do drive-bys daily.
