Blog Drive-Bys for 2007-04-10

I missed a day. Does anyone care? Ha!

I find new sites all the time, but I don't mention half of them. Lately, I've been going down my blogroll, then down my blogroll's blogrolls. This is how I find a lot of new sites. Some of them are, to put it mildly, not my cup of tea. Usually, they're the same ones that don't post but maybe once a month. Eventually, I'll be going down my blogroll's blogroll's blogrolls. My routine changes but I always visit people who just added me to their blogrolls, provided I know about it.

The first thing I do when I get ready to start doing drive-bys is to turn off my Adblock Plus. Besides the obvious, I want to see what the blogs look like normally. Some things just don't look right otherwise.

If you think I should stop by your blog, it's easy. Put me on your blogroll or on your Technorati favorites (or both) and tell me somehow that you did (anywhere — email, comments on an unrelated topic, etc.). I'm finding it harder and harder to spot them on my own. What's on my Technorati favorites usually ends up on my blogroll. I say usually because sometimes I'll miss one (not intentionally).

Another way to get my attention is to comment on something. I'm probably one of the few people that will go to the blog of a commentator to see what you're all about, and it's usually within the same day (my day, not yours). Or… you could just tell me to visit in another way. It's all good.

Enough. On to the list of drive-bys for today.

I had wondered what happened to Matthew at eJabs. I need wonder no more. He posted he was sick with the stomach flu. Or bad pizza. Or difficult home financing. Or something.

Chris at Blog-Op wrote about blogging it your way, a subject near and dear to me. He even mentioned my blog and of course, I couldn't resist mentioning his.

Stine at Mother's Home continued with my meme on music. Good for her. I really like her choices, especially the Eagles, Bruce Springsteen and Cyndi Lauper. You can never be too old for Cyndi Lauper.

Mawe at Mawe's Adobo posted some photoshopped images of Manny Pacquiao on Filipino money. Manny Pacquiao is a boxing idol here in the Philippines. He's good — he beats the tar out of Mexican opponents.

Justin at The Sanctuary posted some of the search terms that lead to his site. One of them made me laugh. He hasn't seen the ones that I've receiving over the past few days. Perhaps I'll share them. Perhaps not.

TK at A Bowl of Stupid threw a temper tantrum at WordPress and its owner, Matt. It was a fun read, considering I did the same thing… once. I learned how to use RSS feeds for a quick recovery. I think all bloggers should.

Bruce at Crazy Aussie Bastard wrote about Joe Francis, author of "Girls Gone Wild", and how he defied a judge's contempt charge. Someone ask Joe to say hi to Bubba for me.

I don't know how I got to this blog, but Rick at The Bento Box Review picked out some T-Shirts for somebody. I think it was his regular readers, but I can't be sure. Cool shirts, though.

Kyte at Hamarana mentioned a design she put in her cafepress Allgood Store. It's too small for me to see the detail, even with the big photo. Maybe I need to invest in reading glasses.

The Spiderman Mr. Potato Head at GadgetMadness is just too much. It would be cool if the costume came off, but it doesn't look like it.

I can't believe I actually watched the video at TrippleHelix but I did. The music was weird but different. In my humble opinion, he could have done much more with it.

Personally I like your blog a lot. I don't know why, but among the many blogs I came across you struck me immediately as the kind of person I like to read… your posts are high quality and that's a big thing considering your posting frequency.

Doesn't always happen. I come across plenty of blogs, but not all of them are on the same channel as I am.

I also found your responsiveness to comments refreshing. Too many popular bloggers ignore their audience. I really like your style and your reciprocity.

No wonder you get a lot of blogrolls. :)

  2. Hari, the secret is that it's not about me. Did you ever notice how so many bloggers seem to talk only about their little world? Sure it's interesting to a few people, but that's about it. I'm going for the big picture. I want everyone to read my blog. :-)

Thanks for the note about the size of the pix. It's an interesting phenomenon at Cafepress. You think you will be able to determine what the size of the picture will be, in any given circumstance, but apparently that isn't the case.

When you set up your items, theres a dropdown list of available sizes to choose from… and, for example, on the messenger bag, the largest is 3" (its always the height measurement), whereas for one of the others (tile I think) 4" was a choice. It chooses the largest available, by default. I did a bulk add of the t-shirts etc., and I think the golf shirt was the only one which came out any good.

I tried increasing the size of the uploaded pic, but it really didn't make a lot of difference. I'll do it again this weekend, with a pic even double the size and see how we go.

  4. You're right. The golf one did come out decent.

Oh yeah… "she" not "he" :-D

  6. Sorry. I'll fix that in the article. That's one of the reasons I try to be gender-neutral when I write. Sometimes it doesn't work and I get caught. Thanks!
    :-)

lol, no need for apologies, my nick is gender neutral as well and there are often confusions.
