Richard Jeni - Is He Dead or Is It a Hoax?

Edit: Ignore the remainder of this article. It's not a hoax and I'm sad.

Quite a few hours ago, The Post Chronicle ran the article, "Richard Jeni Dead: Comedian Found Shot, Self Inflicted?".

I have searched for more than two hours for other references to the report and have only found rehashes of the same article on blogs and even a Los Angeles-based Canadian news agency. Google News has nothing. United Press International has nothing. The Associated Press has nothing.

I'm starting to believe this is an elaborate hoax. The by line of the story on The Post Chronicle lists "Jack Ryan", a well-known fictional character, as the writer. Please, somebody let me know if this is a true story or not and cite the source.

   Richard Jeni was a stand-up comic. He also acted some. He was in "The Mask" with Jim Carrey as his coworker at the bank. He died at the age of 45. I will be 47 this year.

   On another forum (plime.com), you stated, about two links to the Rich Jeni story, one of which was ours:

   "Both rehash the same information. Nothing different. No sources cited."

   We verified the story at 8:33 PM, long before anyone on the planet. We did so via personal sources– people in the standup comedy business in particular and the entertainment industry in general. We definitively stated that the story was real– we would not and could not have said so, had it not been true.

   So, your judgement– that our story "rehash(ed) the same information"– was in error. In fact, quite the opposite was true– the KSBY story was merely repeating information, the heart of which was first made public via our website.

   I'm sorry, Brian. The first source that I got was The Post Chronicle (which was edited and replaced by a story from CNN in the headline on Plime). Since each of us have the ability to edit our own posts on Plime, I'm sure I made a mistake and didn't even read your article. I'm 15 hours ahead of you guys and on the other side of the world. I was operating on fumes to begin with and trying to get a story that was more reliable than The Post Chronicle. I did NOT want to believe the first report. I apologize for any error. I will make corrections.
