Is It Me, or Does Anime Suck?
My son is addicted to "Naruto", an anime series from Japan. Is it me, or does the animation part of anime really suck?
Every time I see anything anime airing on televsion, I want to gag at the animation. I swear, they must only use 2 or 3 cells per segment. I've seen Saturday morning cartoons with better animation. A lot better.
Don't get me wrong. The stories that are done using anime are actually pretty good. The artwork of the anime is usually pretty good too. It's just that the characters seem to freeze in place from one scene to the next.
What's your opinion?

Just because your son likes super-budget crap anime doesn't mean anime sucks. C'mon, you know that's an unfair and uninformed generalization you've made.
There is something about anime that just rubs almost everyone above the age of 20 the wrong way. I've been plagued by it for years. Some of it is really bad, as far as I am concerned. The voice acting leaves a little to be desired, and the stop motion, flying through the air still shots are annoying. There probably are some great story lines out there, but I can't get past the style of it.
the naruto manga is way better than anime, and besides thick outlined characters are worse than naruto.

I grew watching anime because i love the world fantasy and make believe but growing up i realize that some anime today just suck,

What's wrong with anime? I am 24 and I still enjoy anime. And the animation doesn't suck too, as suggested by our good poster. Maybe it's just me though…

I know what you're feeling, my mother and father also do not like animes so much. They do not even consider turning their heads just to watch it.
They tend to use less frames on long running series. You will actually notice a lot of re-used and re-hashed frames during the course of the series; usually when a 'finishing blow' is given by a character. However, for short series and movie series' this usually is not the case.

Well, I would say if it is just a child-let him enjoy it! Anime may be a little-choppy/cheesy or whatever, but it can be pretty intertaining if you find the right story line(for you) like others have suggested.
My son isn't a child. He's 23 and he still watches the crappiest anime I've seen. Not all of it's bad, but he seems to gravitate to the bad.
Unfortunately some anime does seem to lack in quality. Especially draggy anime like Naruto.

Ok, i don't know if my opinion counts since i love anime to the core.
but the harsh reality comes from the fact I don't really like my parents and I am not as sociable.
like I have watched about 50 different animes so far and to me they are all good in their own way. while the sex appeal is a must inorder to get popularity.
if u are a parent then i doubt u would understand very much about anime since its -INTENDED FOR YOUTH-
naruto got bunch of fillers and short fight scenes. its complicating to fill like 20 to 30 page of a manga and show it to 20 minutes on television. exactly like how DBZ fights messed it up too despite being like the #1 anime of all time. (I don't liked those fight scenes either)
but over all the show is very good and if you spended more time and actually watched from the BEGINNING. u will understands the story line and plots stuff. which should be more enjoyable.
