Atheists, and other people who don't believe in the words of the Holy Bible, use science to debunk the story of creation. If the story of creation was written for us, then science would have already proven it false. It wasn't. It was written for the people of the old testament period and in a way that they could understand. The story would be much more technical if it had been written for us.

Given the evidence and the way the first few chapters of the book of Genesis are written, I believe it's possible that people were correctly told the story of where modern humans came from. The wording doesn't disprove the theory that there were other humans on Earth, non-homo sapiens. Recent discoveries indicate that humans and neanderthals (homo neanderthalensis) may have coexisted during the same time period. In fact, they may have interbred and produced half-human, half-neanderthal offspring. It might explain why some of my acquaintances over the years resembled neanderthals (I joke, of course).

The widely-held belief by creationists that the world is somewhere between 6,000 and 7,000 years-old may be completely in error. Facts may yet be uncovered to indicate that modern humans have only been around for 6 to 7 thousand years, but the earth itself might be much, much older.

I don't believe in the "gap" theory (where the first chapter of Genesis and the second are separated by millions of years). Updated translations do not say the earth was created at that time, but that it was repaired. Forgive me if I can't quote the exact wording. The point is, we may not have been the first humans at all, but I don't think science will ever be able to prove it.

I'll point out that I'm not a religious man. I think you have to belong to a religion in order to be considered as such. I do not. I think all religions are corrupt and I want no part of any of them. You, however, are welcome to practice your faith in any way you choose. Just don't try to impress me with it.
