While doing an unrelated search on INQ7.net, the online version of the Philippine Daily Inquirer, I stumbled upon some opinion pieces that indicate the author believed the Philippines did not have any kind of unique culture and that the Philippines has never contributed anything of any significance to the rest of the world.

Cultural identity is difficult to define even when an entire country, like the US, has states or provinces that pretty much speak the same language. It's even more difficult to define a cultural identity for the Philippines as a whole because of the diversity of the different provinces and the fact that many do NOT speak the same language. English has been taught in schools as a bridging language to help close the gaps.

While there may not be a national culture that's unique to the Philippines, there is plenty of culture in the provinces. Some I've witnessed myself both here and in the US. As far as contributing anything of significance to the rest of the world, the simple fact that Filipinos are living and working in places that citizens of other countries are afraid to be in, and thriving in those places, is significant enough.
