Battlestar Galactica is a series that started as a miniseries. It's the story of survivors escaping Cylons hell-bent on destroying the human race. At least at first. I'm not quite sure what the Cylons are trying to do in 2006 and 2007.
The series is a re-imagining and a remake of the original series, which ran from 1978 to 1979 (lasting only 21 episodes) and was followed by Galactica 1980, which ran in 1980 and lasted only 10 episodes.
I didn't like the current series at first. I didn't like a female Starbuck and a female Boomer and was even more miffed by the fact that Boomer turned out to be a sleeper Cylon. And what was up with all the names being replaced by call signs? Nevertheless, the story kind of grew on me quickly. The special effects are superb as well as the story writing.
Battlestar Galactica stars Edward James Olmos, Mary McDonnell, Katee Sackhoff, Jamie Bamber, James Callis, Tricia Helfer, Grace Park, Michael Hogan and many more I don't care to try to name. Here's a fan trailer for your viewing enjoyment:
