Shoddy workmanship is one of the things we've had to deal with while our house was being built. We pointed out corrections along the way to avoid having tons of corrections at the end.

Yesterday, one of the pipes leaked from the second floor through the first floor ceiling. It turns out that the worker that put in the water pipe discovered a hole in the pipe. Instead of changing the pipe, he put putty in the hole. You can imagine how well that worked.

So, they spent several hours today replacing pipes and fixing bad fittings as well as replacing part of the first floor ceiling, which will have to be painted tomorrow.

The grout in the bathroom tiles was put in haphazardly, with gaps visible. They will be spending time re-grouting tomorrow. A lot of exterior painting has to be completed within the next two days. Most of it is just where they were too lazy to do it right the first time.

The contractor has been advised that if all work is not completed by the end of Monday, one thousand pesos per day will be deducted from the final payment. They are working beyond the end of the contract already.
