After putting in a scratched up DVD, my laptop's DVD drive started acting quirky. The audio had echos and the video was choppy. So I went into the properties for the drive and it showed me that it was in PIO mode. I knew that was wrong and remembered reading something about it some time back about the Windows XP PIO fallback glitch.

I searched high and low and finally found what I had read. The solution is simple but you have to be willing to muck around the registry. I won't go into detail about it because Duck's Blog was quite clear.

I saved a copy of the web page just in case the blog disappears in the future. I'll only copy the information to this blog if that happens.
